Paragon Industries offers employment in mobile crews
performing janitorial
or pressure washing work
or in the center-based assembly and packaging division.
Pressure Washing provides regular vehicle washing for local automobile dealerships and several state agencies. Five individuals with mental retardation work on this crew earning at least minimum wage.
Janitorial is a twenty-year old business which has fifteen contracts for cleaning buildings, businesses, schools, and day care centers. With annual revenues of approximately $750,000.00, we employ 49 individuals with disabilities as janitors on nine crews (earning at least minimum wage), along with non-disabled crew members.
Production contracts with businesses to provide services such as assembly, labeling, repackaging, coating and mailing. We recently added a shredding division in which several individuals work daily shredding documents and confidential materials for several state agencies. We also have a crew that goes on-site to several food packaging companies.
By creating affirmative businesses, people who whould typically be deemed "unemployable" have the opportunity to perform meaningful work, interact with co-workers and the public, and develop skills that they might not otherwise have. The benefits to the individuals currently working on these crews can be best summed up by a quote from one of our crew members: "I love my job!"
