“…go out there and challenge life”
Dewain Baldwin

Dewain Baldwin has a zest for life that is evident the moment you meet him. He is determined to accept the challenges that life presents and continues to reach his personal goals.

Dewain, 30, has an irrepressible confidence in himself, and he believes this attitude can work for others. He is truly a self advocate.

Dewain began working at Arc of Greater New Orleans on the grounds maintenance crew in 2009. By 2013, he was operating a riding lawnmower on various landscaping projects. In 2013, he was given the Success Award from the grounds maintenance division of Arc Enterprises.

During this time, Dewain was also working for Landmark Event Staffing Services at the Superdome for various events including Saints games and concerts. Dewain continues to work for Landmark. He enjoys this job because it gives him the opportunity to interact with the public.

After working on the grounds crew for 4 years, Dewain felt that it was time for a change. “If you want to get somewhere, you’ve got to move forward.” With the assistance of Arc Employment Services, Dewain began working at Pei Wei Asian Diner as a utility employee. He has become proficient in preparing rice and noodles, and has mastered several food prep recipes. He also washes dishes, and keeps the steward area clean and organized. Dewain is willing to accept new duties and learn new skills in his job. “If you are scared of failing” Dewain says “you are never going to get what you want. You can’t hold back.”

Arc Employment Services has the pleasure of continuing to provide long term follow-along services to Dewain.
